About the organisation
Acknowledging the key role of industry as one of the contributors to deteriorating air quality as well as a solution provider, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) initiated the 'Cleaner Air - Better Life' platform in 2016. The vision is to provide cleaner air and a better quality of life to every Indian citizen by bringing diverse stakeholders in airshed together to develop and implement strategies for clean air. Source-specific plans for Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) by four Task Forces constituted by NITI Aayog under 'Cleaner Air - Better Life' and Crop Residue Management (CRM) project in the North-Western States of India for multistakeholder action to promote sustainable agriculture replacing open burning of farm biomass are key milestones achieved by the initiative so far. In order to provide leadership to industry subsectors for clean air action, a dedicated group of business leaders i.e. 'India CEO Forum for Clean Air' was initiated under the CII's national initiative 'Cleaner Air - Better Life' in 2019. The forum aspires to provide leadership for clean air action across key sectors and collaboratively work on solutions by designing common industry roadmaps for mitigation of air pollution & pooling resources for rolling out high-impact technologies and delivery models for clean air. This agenda is being taken forward by multi-stakeholder groups created under this forum including the WorkingGroup: Sustainable Transportation, Technology Assessment Panel and Best Practices Panel.
